Self-ventilating
The movement of gas in and out of the lungs that is produced in response to an individual's respiratory muscles.1

High-flow
(HF)
Delivers heated and humidified gas at high-flow rates.2

Non-Invasive Ventilation
(NIV)
Ventilator support delivered via the upper airway using a mask or similar device.3,4

Mechanical Ventilation
(High Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation [HFOV])
Delivers small tidal volumes at high rates through endotracheal tubes.5

Invasive Mechanical Ventilation
(Conventional Mechanical Ventilation)
Invasive ventilation via the lower airways through tracheostomy, endotracheal tubes or other artificial airways.6
